Prof Sam Zhang, Conference Chair of Thinfilms2026

ThinFilms2026 is chaired by Professor Sam Zhang Shanyong, who is the Founding President of Thin Films Society. He has been elected Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (FIoMMM, UK), Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC, UK), and Fellow. His research focuses on hard yet tough infrared-transparent materials nanomaterial-based hard yet tough thin films and coatings, as well as energy films/solar cells. He has authored/edited 26 books, published over 429 papers, which have garnered 15,228 citations, resulting in an H-index of 65. Prof Zhang served as the Founding Editor-in-Chief of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Letters (USA, 2008-2015) and is an editorial board member of the Journal of Materials Research and Surface and Coatings Technology. Notably, his book Materials Characterization Techniques, published by CRC Press in 2008, had been adopted as a textbook by nearly 30 top universities in Europe and America by 2015. It has also been translated into Chinese and published by Science Press (China), exerting significant influence in Chinese universities.
