We are pleased to announce that the abstract submission for ThinFilms2026 has been closed! Selected peer-reviewed papers will be published in a special issue of Surface and Coating Technology (SCT). SCT offers free online downloads for all internet users for a year, which significantly maximises the availability of your article, especially to those who otherwise have no access to it. You may review submission instrucrtions section below for details.

The conference welcomes submissions in the following categories:
Oral Presentations
- Plenary lectures
- Invited talk presentations - 17 mins presentation + 3 mins Q&A
- Regular oral presentations - 12 mins presentation + 3 mins Q&A
- Poster presentations
Full Paper Submission Guidelines
Submission Process:
- All submissions must be made through the [Surface & Coatings Technology website] (https://www.editorialmanager.com/surfcoat/Default.aspx).
- To ensure that all manuscripts are correctly identified for inclusion into the special issue, it is important that authors select VSI: ThinFilms2026 when they reach the Article Type step in the submission process.
Eligibility:
- Only abstracts with paid registration and completed conference presentations will be accepted for review.
- One paid abstract registration allows the submission of one paper only.
Cover Letter
- Include the ThinFilms2026 Cover Letter in your submission. The cover letter must include:
- Paper Number
- Symposium Name (3-digit code: 2DM / BHC / PTA / CAM / CIA / ENS / FFF / HEA / NNN / OEP / OTF / TSP / SMM / STP / TFD / SS1 / SS2 / SS3 )
- Presentation type (Oral or Poster)
- Submissions without the cover letter or with incorrect information will be returned to authors.
Preparation of Manuscript:
- Follow the journal’s Guide to Authors to prepare your manuscript.
Review Process:
- All papers will undergo peer review as per the standards of Surface & Coatings Technology.
- Only high-quality papers will be selected for publication.

We are pleased to announce that ThinFilms2026 will be hosting a poster competition, with attractive cash prizes to be awarded at the conference banquet.
Poster presentation
- All presenters to print their own hardcopy posters and bring to the conference (A1 paper size, using template provided or in their own format)
- Presenters to post their own posters on the stands provided (according to Registration ID)
- To present their poster and answer questions during the designated Poster Session of the conference.
Rules of Poster Competition:
- All REGISTERED participants with a poster entry are eligible to participate.
- A selection committee comprising the symposium Chairs will select the top 20 posters, which will be displayed at the Conference Banquet where banquet attendees will be able to vote (Note: The selected 20 posters will be displayed by the organizer at the banquet venue. Presenters and authors should be in front of their posters for Q&A).
- Attendees to cast their votes (tickets issued at the time of conference registration).
- The 20 posters displayed will be ranked according to the number of votes obtained and 10 top-ranked posters out of the 20 will be awarded the prizes.

- The prizes will be presented during the banquet.
Poster Format
- Size of poster: A1
- Fonts of poster: 54 pt for the title and 32 pt for the text. (Note: Sans-serif fonts like Arial are more legible than serif fonts like Times New Roman).
- The participant should print the poster and bring it to the conference. The participant can use the ThinFilms2026 standard poster template if so desired.
- Display stand will be provided.
